Keeping Time

My beloved found this thirty hour wall clock at an auction recently. Since he is a beekeeper, what could be more fitting for our home but a clock with a bee skep painted on the glass. Since we have plaster walls I prefer not to try hanging heavy items. First the clock was on a mantle but that was directly over my head at the computer. ( the fireplaces are no longer used). I was initiated into the world of a ticking clock at 5:30am! LOL!! Don't get me wrong, I love the clock. I just needed a little more distance between us!! It now reigns supreme on one of my china cabinets in the hallway. Don't forget to visit Colorado Lady. Suzanne is sharing a vintage book today and is hostess for all our Vintage Thingies.

The clock is a real beauty! I've never seen a skep on one--how unique! I know what you mean about the ticking. I've got one that drives everyone crazy. It ticks loudly, chimes loudly, and the pendulum swings loudly!

What a beautiful clock! Funny that as much as I like clocks with pendulums, I have none.

This is a beautiful clock. The wood is amazing, as well as the front with the bee hive.

I had an uncle who was a clock repairman, every time I see an old clock, I think of him. What a great reminder.

Have a great VTT!

What a colorful motif! I know what you mean about loud ticking, I have a cuckoo clock and it took a long, long time to get used to it!

Oh dear, I guess I am odd, but I love the sound of a ticking clock..it takes me back to the farm house where we had a beautiful Mantel clock that ticked the summer minutes by, now I think too fast. I would lay in bed at night and fall asleep listening to that sound.
You clock is so beautiful. What a great find.

What a stunning clock! And how appropriate it has a skep on it! My dad was a beekeeper in his day.

I love this vintage clock with the Romans numbers.
Something puzzles me why do you call it thirty hour clock?

What a gorgeous clock! I saw your comments on CC's blog after she posted a pattern and you said you wished it was a Dachshund. I don't know if you saw it but she post a Doxie embroidery pattern back in April. http://lacenribbonroses.blogspot.com/2009/04/dachshund-puppy.html

And, one for chicken scratch in February. http://lacenribbonroses.blogspot.com/2009/02/chicken-scratch-potholders-vintage.html

Hope this helps!
