Suzanne hosts Vintage Thingie Thursday. Check out all the fun VINTAGE stuff!! I have a quilt top that was hand pieced in the 1940's. Newsprint was used as a template/ foundation. This could be an example of paper piecing before the term was coined. Each photo is clickable . You can see some great 1930 and 40's fabric in this quilt.

I looked and looked..then looked some more. What a wonderful, beautiful quilt top you have. When I was a little girl, my grandmother and an elderly aunt taught me to strip quilt with a paper backing. It's always been one of my favorite older quilts, cause everything was used..and you can see so much of the vintage fabric. You have a real treasure there. Happy VTT, have a great weekend.

Beautiful quilt! I have my father's baby quilt (made by his grandmother for him) hanging on the wall in my boys' room. Things like these are so precious!

Wonderful vintage quilt top! I kept looking and looking-love the "crazy" style border and how she made sure the pretty floral was right up against the sashing all the way around...gives a peek into what she was thinking.

The paper backs just add to the interest!

Did you know that Martha Washington made a hexagon quilt using newspapers as the foundation?

What a beautiful old quilt! I am so glad that it has found a good home. I wonder if it was a Kansas City Star Pattern? (patterns were published in the newspapers.)

I love your quilt. I wish someone had taught me this craft when I was younger. It's a lost art.

Thank you for visiting junkblossoms. Hope you'll be back soon. Pat.
